ended-Lysol “Mission for Health” program (+ an AMEX giveaway-enter here!) ends 10/27/10
Congrats to the winner #104 Emily Robison!
I am somewhat of a germaphobe. If someone is sick at work, I spray everything with Lysol – their chair, computer, phone, the copy machines and printers – pretty much everything! I go through a lot of Lysol during the fall and winter months, and I think it definitely helps! I also regularly spray lysol on the light switches and doorknobs at home. With a 3 year old in the house that goes to preschool, I can never be too careful.
Flu season is almost here, and combined with an increase spread of germs at school and schools cutting budgets, Lysol knows there is an opportunity to help. So to empower families, Lysol developed a program designed to teach healthy habits and increase school attendance (aka less sick days!) all as part of the Lysol “Mission for Health” program. Making the environment safe for you and your family as well as preventing illnesses such as the cold and flu are most important. So Lysol created a unique and user friendly website that educates people on the things they can do to stay germ-free.
In an effort to get moms to “join” the mission, Lysol launched a brand new online community at www.lysol.com. This online community is very easy to navigate, free, and filled with cool/informative information for moms. In the campaign, Lysol is focused on giving information to parents, children, and educators about protecting against germs. The campaign centers around its website, which serves as an interactive portal for its users. On the site, you can learn about Lysol’s products and read about Healthy Homes, Healthy Families, and join the Lysol Community. You can also receive special offers for many Lysol branded products.
Some great aspects of the community:
· Health tips for moms
· Special offers / coupons
· Moms forum for questions & advice
· Newborn tips and chats with Dr. Laura Jana, pediatrician and mom
The 3 main focuses for the program are:
· Schools: The increased spread of germs combined with schools cutting budgets, Lysol knew this should be a focus. So to empower families, they developed a program designed to teach healthy habits and increase school attendance
· Disaster Relief: Lysol has partnered with Save the Children®, a non-profit disaster relief organization, to support the needs of families whose health and safety are impacted during a natural disaster
· Moms: Moms will be provided with educational recourses about how to keep mom and infant healthy with information available at their OBGYN office, pediatrician’s office, and on Lysol.com
In addition, on the Mission for Health site, there are tips for new moms on keeping themselves germ free for their babies. There’s even a section in which you can submit tips on how you keep you and your family safe from germs.
Lysol has also reached out to schools and is holding a Lysol Blue Ribbon Attendance Challenge, a Healthy Hero Contest, and Hand Washing Song Contest. $75,000 worth of gifts and prizes will be given to winners. Insanely cute videos of kids singing songs about hygiene to come next month.
As you can see, this is a massive campaign designed to help moms where they need it most – in their communities and beyond! Let’s all recruit moms to “join the mission”!
